I've waited a while as I thought John's sister might have posted a notice of the death of John Cameron. But I gather there was some bad blood between them. Family dynamics can sometimes be very sad.
John passed away from cancer on the eve of our last reunion. He went in the hospital six days before, due to kidney complications. John had been on dialysis for the last year of his life. When they opened him up ... well that's when they found the cancer which was obviously well advanced and not treatable. During those last few days John was in much pain, but well medicated to eliminate the discomfort - at least as much as possible.
John is survived by his life partner Jeannie, his sister Cathy (and I believe his mother, Mary is still alive). At John's request there was no funeral nor Celebration of his Life. His only request was to have his ashes spread in San Francisco, New Orleans and Cuba.
Please remember John as a good hearted guy who valued his private time. I can still remember his larger than life laugh and boy, did we - Dave Taylor, Brian & Barb Hills, Phil Walker, Jim Macnamara, to mention a few, have a lot of laughs and now fond memories.
Life is short. Enjoy it while you can and make sure to tell those people you love that you do love them.
